ALT School
Located on our main campus, the Alternative (ALT) School at Evanston Township High School provides a supportive and effective educational option for students who may not be finding success in a traditional classroom environment and may benefit from an alternative learning environment. The program is designed to help students get back on track academically and make progress toward graduation.
About the Program
The ALT School offers a flexible, supportive pathway for students who may be behind in credits or need additional academic and social-emotional support. Students are referred to ALT School by their grade-level team. The program offers a comprehensive range of academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions, all designed to help students meet state learning standards.
The program focuses on:
- Increasing attendance and engagement
- Supporting credit recovery
- Encouraging positive behavior and school connection
- Addressing behavior concerns through structured support
- Helping student successfully complete high school

| Daytime Sessions | Two sessions are offered during the regular school day. |
| Evening School | Available twice a week to provide additional flexibility. |
| Work Study and Practicum |
Opportunities for students to gain experience in real-world settings. |
| Flexible Learning Model | Coursework is primarily computer-based, allowing students to work at their own pace while receiving direct support and instruction from teachers. |
Ongoing Support & Reintegration
The ALT School works closely with students’ grade-level teams to develop reintegration plans for students when they are ready to transition back into the traditional classroom environment. The goal is always to ensure a student transitions when they are most likely to succeed.
