Student Enrollment & Registration
Whether you are new to Evanston Township High School or returning for another year, all students must complete the registration process to ensure access to classes, technology, and school services. To attend ETHS, students must live within District 202 boundaries on a full-time, permanent basis.
ETHS provides a variety of registration services to support all students and families. To begin the registration process, please select the category that applies to your family below.
Incoming Freshmen Enrollment
For 8th grade students enrolling in high school for the first time. This includes students from District 65 and other middle schools (including private, parochial, and homeschooling).
Returning Student Registration
For all returning ETHS students, required to confirm or update contact, emergency, and residency information.
Transfer Student Enrollment
For students (Grades 9–12) transferring to ETHS from another high school during the school year or between school years.
Summer School Registration
For current and incoming ETHS students who wish to enroll in summer courses.
Exchange Student Registration
For international students attending ETHS through an approved exchange program.
District Boundaries
Evanston Township High School District 202 serves all of the City of Evanston and parts of the Village of Skokie. Students must reside within district boundaries to attend ETHS. Proof of residency is required as part of the student registration process.
To check if an address is within District 202 boundaries, you can:
- Use the Cook County Property Tax Portal to check residency information.
- Contact the Residency Office at residency@eths202.org or (847)424-7182 for assistance.
Students who complete 8th Grade at Evanston/Skokie School District 65 typically attend ETHS. However, enrollment at ETHS is based on current residency within District 202 boundaries, regardless of prior school attendance.

How to Verify Residency
Students who are residents of Evanston Township District 202 may attend ETHS. Residency verification is required for all incoming freshmen, transfer students, and returning students to ensure that students meet this eligibility requirement.
- For new students (incoming freshmen and transfer students), parents/guardians are required to prove a student’s residency status at the time of registration.
- For returning students, ETHS requires proof of residency every year. Visit the Returning Student Registration page for more information on how to verify your residency status.
Why do families have to verify residency?
Since public schools are funded by local taxpayer dollars, this process helps us uphold our responsibility to protect community resources and ensure that funding is directed to students who are entitled to it based on where they live. A student will not be able to attend ETHS if residency cannot be verified. ETHS reserves the right to investigate residency status at any time.
Required Residency Documents
To verify your residency, you must provide one document from Category A and two documents from Category B. All documents must be current (dated within the last 60 days) and show the name and address of the student’s parent/guardian.
