Incoming Freshmen

Incoming Freshmen Registration Week is your first step to joining the ETHS community. During this week, families can complete enrollment online, submit required documents, and get guidance on next steps. Staff will be available to answer questions and provide support to ensure a smooth registration process.

After completing registration, incoming freshmen students receive a class t-shirt as an official welcome to ETHS! Once registration is complete and approved, families will receive an email with pickup instructions. T-shirts are available while supplies last.

Incoming Freshman Information Night is an opportunity for families to learn more about life at ETHS. Attendees will hear from school leaders, explore academic programs, and get answers to questions about courses, extracurriculars, and the transition to high school. This event is designed to help students and families feel prepared and confident as they start their ETHS journey.

Incoming Freshman Course Request Night gives students and families the opportunity to learn about course offerings and enter their course requests for the upcoming school year. Staff will provide guidance on academic planning, graduation requirements, and elective options to help students build a schedule that aligns with their goals and interests.

Course requests are how students select the classes they would like to take for the upcoming school year. While we do our best to honor student choices, requests are balanced with the courses required to stay on track for graduation and course availability.

Get involved and find your place at ETHS! Incoming freshmen and their families are invited to meet coaches, club sponsors, and student leaders to learn more about the wide range of sports and activities available. Explore opportunities to connect, get active, and make the most of your high school experience.

Freshman Orientation helps new students get ready for the start of high school. Students will meet classmates, tour the building, learn about school routines, and connect with teachers and staff. It’s a great way to start building community and confidence before the first day of school.

ETHS use placement tests as part of the course placement process for incoming freshmen. Placement testing is used to determine appropriate course levels for your student.

Incoming students will submit their course requests in person at Course Request Night, held in December. Registration must be completed before course requests can be submitted.

During Course Request Night, incoming freshmen and their families will learn about graduation requirements, elective options, and summer school opportunities. Students will enter their course requests online during the event. 

To prepare, families are encouraged to review the online Course Request Guide and complete the Course Request Worksheet in advance. Discussing course options as a family ahead of time can help students make informed decisions about their freshman year schedule.

While ETHS prioritizes student preferences when assigning courses, final schedules depend on placement results, availability, and other factors.

ETHS offers three optional credited courses specifically for incoming freshmen to help acclimate them to ETHS and its learning environment. The courses are Prep to ETHS, Reading and Math in the Social Context, and Geometry Complete.

Incoming freshmen interested in participating in athletics must complete the sports registration process before tryouts or practices begin. Registration begins in the spring and includes submitting required forms and a current physical exam.

ETHS offers summer sports camps for incoming freshmen to develop skills, meet coaches, and connect with teammates before the school year starts. Camps are open to all experience levels and are recommended for students who plan to tryout for a team.
