Work Permits
Illinois law requires minors under 16 to obtain a work permit (also known as an employment certificate) before beginning any employment. A work permit ensures that the minor is of legal age, physically able to work, and that the job does not interfere with their education or involve hazardous conditions.
How to Get a Work Permit
Students under 16 who plan to work must have a valid work permit. The Operations & ID Center (W103) issues work permits by appointment only. Walk-ins are not permitted.
To schedule an appointment, please email Ms. Johnson at johnsond@eths202.org or call (847)424-7316. If you call and reach voicemail, please leave a message.
If your application is approved, your work permit will be issued approximately 24 hours after your appointment. Work permits are not issued on the spot.
