Dual Credit
At Evanston Township High School, students can earn college credit while completing high school graduation requirements by enrolling in dual credit courses. ETHS partners with Oakton College and other institutions to provide a range of dual credit options across different subject areas, including Arts+Innovation, Career & Technical Education, Mathematics, and Science.
Through partnerships with higher education institutions, ETHS students can:
- Save money on college tuition by earning credit while still in high school.
- Challenge themselves with more advanced classes.
- Boost their college applications by demonstrating readiness for higher education.
- Discover their passions and start thinking about their future path after graduation.
What is Dual Credit?
Dual Credit courses allow students to earn both high school and college credit at the same time by taking a single class. These classes take place during the regular school day and are taught on campus by qualified ETHS teachers following a college-level curriculum.
Dual Credit courses count toward ETHS graduation requirements. Students also receive a transcript from the partner institution, e.g. Oakton College. Credit transfer policies vary by institution, but many colleges and universities may apply these credits toward a degree or certification. Students do not need to attend Oakton College after high school in order to keep or transfer these credits.
There is no cost to families for Dual Credit courses as part of the district’s commitment to supporting the post-high school journeys of all ETHS students.
Dual Credit Courses at ETHS
ETHS is proud to offer 18 Dual Credit courses in partnership with Oakton College. These courses enable students to earn both high school and college credit while strengthening their readiness for future endeavors.
You can view the ETHS Dual Credit Course Guide for more information about each course.
