Tutoring Program
The Tutoring Program at Evanston Township High School supports student success by providing free, one-on-one help in any subject area. Whether you’re looking to strengthen your understanding, catch up, or get ahead, our staff and trained peer tutors are here to help. Our goal is to provide quality tutoring that supports student learning and empowers students to achieve academic success. Tutoring is available in all academic subjects.
What is Tutoring?
Tutoring is one-on-one academic support. A tutor can:
-
Help explain concepts in a way that makes sense to you
-
Work through practice problems, readings, or assignments with you
-
Support you in building study habits, organization, or test prep skills
-
Provide a space where you can ask questions without pressure
Tutoring is a great option if you:
-
Feel stuck or confused in a class
-
Want help reviewing homework, studying for a test, or writing an essay
-
Are aiming to improve your grade or gain more confidence
-
Just need someone to explain things in a different way
How to Request a Tutor
Students who need academic support are encouraged to request a tutor. You can request a tutor at any time—no referral needed. Once matched, students will meet with their tutor once or twice a week during a free block, lunch block, study hall, or before/after school.
Students are matched with a tutor based on a number of factors:
- Your availability and class schedule
- Tutor availability
- The class you need help with and your current grade

|---|---|
| Adult tutors are volunteers who provide tutoring in their focus areas. Adult tutor availability is limited. | Peer tutors are students recommended by ETHS faculty who have excelled in the courses they support and are trained to provide support to their peers. |

Note: While we do our best to fulfill all tutoring requests, matches depend on tutor availability, subject area, and scheduling. Submitting a request does not guarantee a match, but we will contact you if and when a tutor becomes available. As you wait for a match, please take advantage of our other Academic Supports at ETHS.
