Textbooks

At Evanston Township High School, some courses use textbooks, books, or other printed materials as part of classroom learning. Students will receive their required textbooks directly in class from their teacher or from the Book Distribution Center.

Book Distribution Center

The Book Distribution Center (BDC) is located in S112. The BDC manages the distribution and collection of textbooks, calculators, and other items provided to students each year. BDC staff are here to help students check out, return, and manage their textbooks and course materials throughout the school year.

Care & Responsibility
  • All materials distributed by the Book Distribution Center, including textbooks and calculators, remain the property of ETHS.
  • Any items issued in your name are your responsibility—do not loan them to others.
  • All borrowed materials must be returned in good condition at the end of the course, allowing for normal wear and tear.
  • Lost or damaged materials may result in a replacement fee.
  • All items must be returned by the deadline. Items returned late will be charged a full replacement fee, since ETHS must reorder materials immediately after the deadline to prepare for the next school year.

Guidelines: Distribution & Returns

Avoid Extra Fees

Textbooks and other materials are expensive, and unreturned or damaged items can quickly add up on student accounts. We want to help our families avoid any extra fees associated with lost, damaged, or late-returned items. You can avoid these charges by:

  • Returning all books and materials on time.

  • Keeping books in good condition—do not loan them out.

  • Checking myETHS regularly to see what books are issued to your student and keep track of them.

Note: Once charges are applied, they cannot be removed, even if items are returned later. This is because ETHS must reorder materials immediately after the deadline to prepare for the next school year. Returning materials on time is the only way to avoid charges.

Quick Tips for Students
  • Keep books in good condition.

  • Track your items and make sure you know where they are at all times.

  • Return all materials on time to avoid fees.

  • Check myETHS for a list of issued or unreturned books.
