Grades & Report Cards
Grades are used to show how students are progressing in their classes. Grades reflect the learning, skills, and knowledge students demonstrate over time. They are one of the many ways teachers communicate with students and families about academic progress.
Grades help track your progress and can impact eligibility for sports, clubs, scholarships, graduation, and college or job applications. If you’re worried about your grades, talk to a teacher or counselor—support is always available.
Grades
Students receive grades for each course they take. Teachers assign grades based on classwork, homework, projects, tests, participation, and other learning activities. Grades help students understand how they are doing and where they may need support or improvement.
ETHS uses the following letter grade scale:
A = Excellent (90% to 100%)
B = Good (80% to 89%)
C = Satisfactory (70% to 79%)
D = Passing, but below average (60% to 69%)
F = Failing (no credit earned) (59% and below)

Report Cards & Progress Reports
Report cards and progress reports are an important way we share information with students and families about academic progress. They are key tools for communication between school and home. They share updates about a student’s academic progress, highlight strengths, and help identify areas where additional support may be needed. At ETHS, we believe that regular, transparent updates help students take ownership of their learning and keep families connected to their student’s progress.
Report Cards
ETHS issues report cards four times during the school year, at the end of each quarter. These reports include final grades for each marking period. Report cards are official records of the grades a student has earned during a marking period. Note: Semester 1 (after Quarter 2) and Semester 2 (after Quarter 4) grades appear on the official academic transcript.
Report cards show:
- Final grades for each course
- Credits earned toward graduation (credit is awarded at the end of the semester)
- Attendance information
Report cards are available through Home Access Center (HAC). Parents/guardians may also choose to receive report cards via email.
Progress Reports (Interim Progress Reports or IPRs)
Progress reports are prepared midway through each quarter and provide an update on student performance. These reports help students and families monitor academic progress before grades become final. Progress reports are available through Home Access Center (HAC). Parents/guardians may also choose to receive report cards via email.
