Volunteer

In accordance with Board Policy (4:175), all prospective volunteers must complete a registration process with the Educational Services Department and receive approval before starting any volunteer service at ETHS.

Steps to Become a Volunteer: 

1. Identify a Volunteer Opportunity
   Contact the department or staff member overseeing the program you are interested in supporting. They can help determine whether volunteer opportunities are currently available.
    
2. ETHS Staff Member Submits Registration Form
   Once a volunteer role is identified, the ETHS staff member will complete and submit a registration form to the Educational Services Department on your behalf. This form must be submitted at least 30 days before your expected start date.
    
3. Complete Background Check
   Depending on your role and level of contact with students, you may be required to complete additional forms and a fingerprint-based background check. ETHS will provide details and instructions for this step if necessary. There is no cost to you for background checks.
    
4. Final Approval
   The Educational Services Department will notify you and the ETHS staff contact via email once your registration is approved and background clearance (if applicable) is received. You may begin volunteering only after receiving official approval.
    

Annual Re-Registration

Volunteers are required to register each school year they plan to serve. If it has been more than three years since your last background check, a new clearance will be required.

In accordance with Board Policy (4:175), community members interested in coaching athletics at ETHS on a volunteer basis must complete an application process with the Athletic Department. 

Steps to Become a Volunteer Coach: 

1. Contact the Head Coach
   Contact the head coach of the sports program you are interested in to inquire about volunteer coaching positions. You may also contact the Athletics Office at 847-424-7370. Please note that volunteer positions are limited and not guaranteed. Volunteer needs vary by program, and final decisions are made by the head coach based on program needs and fit. If an opportunity is available, the head coach will schedule an interview with the volunteer.
    
2. Recommendation to Human Resources
   If the head coach decides to offer you a volunteer position on the coaching staff, the Athletics Department will make a formal recommendation to the Human Resources Department to begin the volunteer registration process.
    
3. Background Check and Registration Form
   The Human Resources Department will send you a volunteer packet with all required forms via email. To serve as a volunteer coach, you must also complete a fingerprint-based background check. There is no cost to you for background checks.
    
4. Final Approval & Orientation
   The Human Resources Department will notify you and the Athletics Department via email once your registration is approved and background clearance is received. Following this approval, a meeting will be scheduled with the Athletics Director. You may begin coaching after this meeting.
    
5. Annual Re-Registration
