Our Approach to Safety
Report a Safety Concern
Your voice matters in keeping our school community safe. We encourage everyone to report any safety concerns, no matter how big or small, so we can respond quickly and appropriately. If you see something concerning or need to report an issue, there are several ways to do so:
| In an Emergency, Call 911 | Always call 911 immediately if you believe there is an immediate threat to the safety of anyone in our community. |
| Talk to a Staff Member | If you feel comfortable, speak directly to a teacher, dean, administrator, or staff member. They will take appropriate action to address the situation. |
| Non-Emergency Safety Line | You can call the ETHS Safety Department at 847-424-7500. This line is monitored 24/7 for safety concerns. |
| Anonymous Report | You can report concerns anonymously online. Submit an anonymous tip here. |
| Text-a-Tip | Submit an anonymous tip by texting “ETHS” to 274637 (“CRIMES”), followed by your message. Tips are monitored from 8:00am to 4:00pm on regular school days. |
| Deans' Office | Visit the Deans’ Office, located in H-Hall (H109), to speak confidentially to your Dean or staff member about your concerns. You can also call or email your Dean. |
| School Resource Officers | Contact one of our School Resource Officers (SROs) to make a confidential report. Visit the SRO Office or call (847)424-7703. |

Student Parking Permits
ETHS has limited on-campus parking available for students. Parking permits are managed by the ETHS Safety Department and are required to park in designated student parking areas. Due to the limited number of student parking spaces, parking permits are distributed through a lottery system.
Lost & Found
The Safety Department maintains a Lost and Found to help students, staff, and visitors recover misplaced items. The Lost & Found is located in the Safety Office near Entrance 1 (H102).
Lost property such as cell phones, jackets and coats, wallets, jewelry, keys, books, backpacks, glasses, and Student ID cards are often brought to the Lost and Found. Be sure to check the Lost and Found when you’re missing something, and kindly bring found items to the Safety Office so they can be returned to their owners.
Lost and Found items are kept secure at the Safety Office for 90 days; items not claimed within that time frame are donated or discarded.
Property Tracking
Students can register up to five personal items, such as electronic devices (phones, tablets, etc.) and bicycles. If a registered item is lost or stolen, this system can help identify it if recovered.
To register an item:
- Log in to myETHS.
- Click Records and select Property Tracking.
- Click Add New to register a personal item.
- Select an item from the Device Type list.
- Enter the item's description and serial number, then click OK.
Emergency Notifications
ETHS uses an emergency notification system to quickly communicate important alerts to students, staff, and families. In the event of a school emergency, severe weather closure, or other urgent situation, notifications will be sent via phone, email, and text. Make sure your contact information is up to date to ensure you receive notifications.
